Your Complimentary Initial Orthodontic Examination
Your first visit is designed to be simple, stress-free, and helpful. During the initial exam, we focus on understanding your smile goals and answering the questions that matter most.
The purpose of the initial orthodontic exam is to answer:
- What type of orthodontic problem is present, if any?
- When is the right time to begin treatment?
- What kind of treatment is recommended (braces or Invisalign)?
- How long will orthodontic treatment take?
- What will the overall cost be?
This appointment is a great opportunity to ask questions, explore options, and get professional guidance tailored to your needs.
What Happens After the First Visit?
What’s Next?
If orthodontic treatment is recommended at the time of your initial exam, the next step is scheduling an appointment for Diagnostic Records.
In many cases, if time allows, we can even take these records during your first visit to help move the process along smoothly.
What Are Diagnostic Records?
Diagnostic records give Dr. Lewandowski the detailed information needed to create the best treatment plan for your smile.
These records may include:
- Study models of your teeth
- Panoramic radiographs
- Cephalogram imaging and tracings
- A complete orthodontic growth and alignment evaluation
Once these records are complete, the doctor carefully studies them to determine the most effective course of treatment.
Think of diagnostic records like a roadmap; they help us plan a clear, customized path to a healthier, straighter smile.
What Is the Cost of Orthodontic Treatment?
The cost of orthodontic care depends on the severity and complexity of each patient’s needs.
During your initial exam, our treatment coordinator will review:
- Recommended treatment options
- Estimated fees
- Flexible payment plans
- Insurance benefits
We offer a variety of payment arrangements to fit your budget and accept assignment from most insurance plans. Our team works hard to make orthodontics affordable and accessible for families throughout Everett and the surrounding communities.
What Does My Orthodontic Investment Include?
Your orthodontic investment at Advanced Orthodontics includes comprehensive care from start to finish.
Your treatment fee includes:
- Orthodontic records, including x-rays, study models, and a personalized growth evaluation
- Active treatment for both early intervention and full comprehensive care
- Complete treatment with braces or Invisalign, including all appliances, office visits, and procedures performed in our office
- Durable orthodontic appliances designed to last through the treatment period (with proper care)
- One set of final retainers for comprehensive Phase II patients upon completion of treatment
Please note: If appliances require replacement due to loss, misuse, breakage, or failure to avoid damaging foods, an additional replacement fee may apply.
If a retainer is lost or broken after treatment, there is also a replacement fee for additional retainers.
What Doesn’t My Investment Include?
While we provide complete orthodontic care in our office, there are a few services that are not included in your treatment fee.
Treatment does not include:
- Dental work performed outside of our orthodontic practice

In unusual circumstances where additional care is needed, a fee adjustment may be required to complete treatment.

Important note:
If your insurance policy changes before full payment of the insurance benefit is complete, please contact our office right away so adjustments can be made to your contract.

Frequently Asked Questions
Your first orthodontic visit is an exciting step toward a healthier, more confident smile. Whether you’re bringing in your child for an evaluation or exploring treatment for yourself, it’s normal to have a few extra questions before you arrive. Below are some of the most common questions patients and families in Everett, WA ask before their first appointment at Advanced Orthodontics.
How early should my child see an orthodontist?
Most orthodontists, including our team at Advanced Orthodontics, recommend that children have their first orthodontic evaluation around age 7. This doesn’t always mean treatment starts right away, but it allows Dr. Lewandowski to monitor growth and identify any developing issues early.
How long does a first orthodontic appointment usually take?
A first visit typically lasts about 45–60 minutes, depending on whether records are taken that day. Our goal is to make the appointment comfortable, informative, and never rushed.
Will my first visit include braces or treatment right away?
Most patients do not begin treatment on the very first visit. The initial appointment is focused on evaluation and planning. If treatment is recommended, the next step is scheduling records and reviewing your personalized plan.
What should I bring to my first orthodontic appointment?
To help your visit go smoothly, we recommend bringing:
- Your insurance information (if applicable)
- Any dental records or x-rays from your dentist (if available)
- A list of questions or concerns you’d like to discuss
And of course, bring your smile—we’ll take it from there!
Is orthodontic care covered by insurance?
Many dental insurance plans include orthodontic benefits, especially for children and teens. Our office accepts assignment of benefits for most plans and will help you understand your coverage and payment options.
